Mobile Specification
Start with Huawei Y7a’s unboxing, let’s go ahead and take off the plastic, and before we dig into the box, Huawei is taking their situation with google’s head-on. So, on the box, they have this gentle reminder that the phone doesn’t come with Google services, and you’ll need to use the Huawei App Gallery to download your apps; and in Pakistan, they also include a card mentioning all the local apps.
Now available on the Huawei APP Gallery, there’s also a flyer to guide users on installing apps and using the pedal search feature, which will help you find your apps from different platforms. So, opening the box, we’re greeted with the phone itself.
Huawei Y7a is exceptionally glossy; there’s a folder with the user manuals and a silicone protective case, and right at the bottom of the box is a 22.5-watt super-fast charger along with a charger cable and a hands-free headset.
In Huawei y7a, we have a Kirin 710a chipset and the Mali G51 GPU 4GBs of RAM and 128GBs of internal storage. KIRIN 710a is still part of the 710 series, which is honestly a little bit dated now.
Still, the main thing that differentiates this chip from the 710f is that this is the first chip produced by high silicon that is entirely built-in China; previously, these chips were made in Taiwan. A lot of the intellectual property was owned by even, in some cases, American companies.
This is the first time we’re seeing Huawei going truly towards a self-sufficient state where they can start producing their chips, which I think is a step in the right direction.
The original KIRIN 710f was based on a 12-nanometer manufacturing process. In contrast, Kirin 710a is based on a 14-nanometer manufacturing process. Still, I don’t think it will affect this chip’s performance all too much, and with these benchmarks, obviously, you can’t expect groundbreaking performance.
Huawei Y7a is not for power users or high-performance; it’s more for the average user these days, so social media, videos, and casual gaming with these internals.
Y7a will run games like PUBG on balanced settings; you do have the option to play with HD, but the game will stutter a little bit at higher settings.
Huawei Y7a will handle daily used apps, social media just fine, and video content consumption won’t be an issue; the only thing to keep in mind with Huawei phones these days is the software experience.
You need to make sure that all the apps you use daily are available on this phone. Over time, Huawei has used its muscle to develop its app gallery. As time passes, we’re seeing more and more apps available like many local apps in Pakistan were not available on the app gallery a few months ago. Still, now they are, so that is again a step in the right direction.
Huawei Y7a is going to last more than a day or day easily and a half, maybe even more if your usage is lighter; this phone is designed for people who want perfect battery life from their phones perhaps your work is of that nature that you need colossal battery life, or you use your phone for things like watching a lot of videos or consuming a lot of content on it which is where big batteries come in handy.
Then there’s a 6.67-inch LCD with full HD resolution and a pixel density of around 400 PPI which is plenty crisp. A full HD display of Huawei y7a at Rs 35,999 Price in Pakistan is pretty much a prerequisite, but I do appreciate the big size and with a big battery and a big full HD display, this phone is a good option for people who watch a lot of videos and movies on their smartphone.
On top of the screen, there’s a centralized hole punch cutout for the selfie camera, but I must say it’s not small at all, the whole punch cutout is pretty big, definitely one of the bigger ones I’ve seen so far, and it pretty much goes without saying that a big display and a big battery mean a big phone. Huawei Y7a is only a little smaller than Samsung Note 20 ultra and feels super chunky in hand. The back is made of plastic as is the frame, and despite being plastic, this phone doesn’t feel cheap at all.
I wouldn’t say I like glossy phones, especially in gold, but I think many of you are going to like this bright look; plastic also has the benefit of being more resistant to drops. On the phone’s right side is its power button; fingerprint sensors and side-mounted fingerprint sensors are usually pretty fast and reliable.
Now let’s go ahead and take a look at the cameras on Huawei y7a, so here we have a 48-megapixel main camera with an f 1.8 aperture, this is a quad bear sensor then there’s an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, we have an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
Huawei Y7a’s 48 megapixels camera at this price in Pakistan is the bare minimum you’d get from most brands, but Huawei’s camera game is very strong in this case. On the software side, with this primary camera, you’ll get pretty accurate color reproduction, and decent dynamic range images also have a saturated sort of look.
The level of detail is okay, not great thanks to the mid-range spec camera hardware. The ultra-wide camera also reproduces colors accurately but the lower level of detail is very apparent.
The selfie camera is where I was a bit surprised because I was expecting trash, but despite the low megapixel count, both colors and dynamic range were pretty good.
Considering the price in Pakistan, I think the camera performance is pretty decent. Huawei y7a or P SMART 2021 is a phone for the average user. It’s specifically designed for social media and content consumption. I like the big display, the big battery, fast charging, and the camera is also decent for casual camera usage. The only thing I didn’t really like about this phone is the processor the current 710 series is now a very dated sort of series.
It’s also a bit underpowered especially considering all the competition at this price point, but props to Huawei for developing their supply chain and taking another step towards self-sufficiency especially in light of all the political things that have been happening with the company of late but because of this processor I can’t really recommend this phone to power users or performance-oriented users.
I would also urge you to check that all your apps work on this phone before you go ahead and buy it.
